1. 9월 1일(수)   ‘안에서부터 함몰되는 하나님의 백성들’   삿 12:1-15

 

본문 관찰과 묵상

 

     입다가 암몬과 싸워 항복을 받아냈다.  에브라임이 왜 자신들을 부르지 않았느냐고 시비를 걸었다. 사실 구원요청에도 에브라임은 침묵하였다. 에브라임은 길르앗 사람을 도망자라고 차별하였다. 입다가 요단강 나루턱을 점령하고 에브라임 사람 4만 2천명을 죽였다. 6년 동안 입다가 사사로 섬기고 죽었다. 그후 입산 사사가 7년 엘론 사사가 10년 압돈 사사가 8년동안 섬기고 죽었다. 

 

QT를 통하여 듣는 주님의 음성

 

    사사 기드온이 왕처럼 섬김을 받으며 살기 시작한 후로 사사들이 점점 타락하였다. 입다는 지성과 영성을 갖춘 사사였으나 교만하여 경솔한 말로 추락하기 시작하였다.  에브라임은 조용히 있다 승리하는 사사에게 항상 자기를 왜 않불렀냐고 항의 하였다. 이번에도 길르앗에게 항의하다 4만2천명이 죽임을 당했다. 집안싸움으로 에브라임도 타락하고 길르앗도 악을 행함으로 타락하였다.  그후의 소 사사 입산, 엘론, 압돈도 왕처럼 살면서 서서히 무너지기 시작하였다.

        

결단과 적용

 

    외부의 적과 용감히 싸워 승리하였지만 이스라엘 백성은 집안 싸움으로 서서히 무너지기 시작하였다.  ‘서로 물고 먹으면 피차 망한다’(갈 5:15).  그리고 사사들이 점점 섬기는 자리에서 섬김을 받는 왕 같은 삶을 살면서 그 권세를 또한 왕 같이 세습하였다.  그리고 사사들이 서서히 타락하기 시작하였다.  교회가 성도끼리 하나되지 못하고 싸우면 공동체가 무너진다.  또한 리더들이 섬기지 않고 섬김을 받으려 할 때 교회는 망한다.  하나되게 하고 끝까지 섬기는 목사로 살겠다.

Observation and meditation on the text

 

     Jephthah subdued Ammon (Jdg.11:33).  After the victory, the Ephraimites provoked a quarrel.  In fact, they remained in silence when Jephthah asked for help.  From the beginning, the Ephraimites discriminated the Gileadites as a renegade.  Jephthah captured the fords of the Jordan river, and the Gileadites killed 42,000 Ephraimites.  Judge Jephthah served the Israelites for 7 years and died.  After Jephthah Ipzan, Elon and Abdon became judges for Israel, and they served for 7, 10 and 8 years respectively and consecutively. 

 

I hear the voice of the Lord through QT

 

     Since the time of the Judge Gideon who lived like a king to be served by the people instead of serving them, all the judges followed after his path of deterioration.  Jephthah was intelligent and spiritually powerful leader.  But he began to collapse out of his pride by his supercilious verbal declaration before the Lord and the people.  The Ephraimites had a habit to provoke a quarrel against the victor of wars for the reason of being excluded by the judges in the participation of wars even though it was themselves who did not respond to the judge’s invitation.  At this time 42,000 Ephraimites were killed due to their resistance against Jephthah.  Due to the family feud, both the Ephraimites and the Gileadites collapsed from within.  After Jephthah, the judges Ipzan, Elon and Abdon followed their predecessors’ path of corruption, and they also collapsed from within.              

 

Decisions and applications

 

     The Israelites won the battles out of their bravery against the enemies from outside, but they began to collapse from within due to the family feud gradually but surely.  ‘If you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other’ (Gal. 5:15).  The judges began to be served instead of serving, and they passed their wealth and power unto the next generation.  By doing that they collapsed from within gradually.  If members of church of Christ bite and devour each other, the community of faith shall also be destroyed from within.  At the same time when the leaders of church desired to be served instead of serving, then the church of Christ shall also be destroyed from within.  Therefore, I am adamantly and obstinately determined to live as a serving servant of God for the rest of my life at home and at church.
